Hugh Edward Sandefur Training Center, Inc. is a private non-profit Community Rehabilitation program, incorporated since 1967.  Sandefur Training Center operates a full scale manufacturing facility in Henderson, Kentucky; integrating vocational evaluation, employment development, adult daily living and work and social skills into a program designed to enable people and give them an opportunity for gainful employment.  “The Artist Within: Disabling the Myth” began two years ago when Sandefur Training center incorporated a basic art class into regular operations as an optional vocational program.

Instructed by Susie Rideout, the art class has enjoyed great success.  Last year the class displayed their paintings in Louisville at Halig Brown Advertising Agency and at the Henderson Community Library where they were welcomed with a very warm response.

Thanks to a generous grant from Very Special Arts of Kentucky and The Yeager Charitable Trust, Sandefur Training Center art program has developed the skills of many talented artists whose work is now available in limited edition prints.  This year’s class of artists produced more than forty pieces of original art.  After being juried, twelve prints were selected to be printed and autographed by the artist.

These paintings are now available as the print alone, or matted and framed.  Please see the back of this brochure for pricing and ordering information. By supporting the artists represented in this brochure, you help to insure the continued development of this new and exciting program.  A monumental “thanks” to The Yeager Charitable Trust, Very Special Arts of Kentucky, and the Ohio Valley Art League for their continued sponsorship and support.  Without support from these organizations none of this would have been possible.
